Opus International Consultants has one of the largest wastewater treatment capabilities of environmental engineers and scientists in New Zealand.  In partnership with our clients, we have a long track record of innovation. We are recognised for delivering high-quality, cost-effective wastewater treatment solutions.  Our volume of repeat commissions reflects the high esteem our clients have for our services.

Opus has the expertise to manage all stages of wastewater treatment, disposal, and system management, from strategic planning and design to construction supervision and post-commissioning support.  Many of our wastewater experts have operational experience. We are increasingly sought for our experience in optimisation and trouble-shooting of plant processes and operations.

The in-depth knowledge of our specialists traverses all forms of treatment, disinfection, and biosolids management. This experience includes high technology MBR-, SBR- and UV-disinfection, wetland treatment and land application.  With our unique mix of operational and technical experience, we offer design solutions for any scale of plant or problem.

Wastewater managers must operate in an increasingly stringent legislative environment. Opus can assist with meeting legislative responsibilities.  We provide expert advice and services for AEE’s, mitigation options, monitoring for compliance, consultation programmes and consent applications.

The Opus name is synonymous with client-focused service excellence.  To achieve this reputation we make a point of understanding our client’s needs and tailoring our solutions accordingly - always with a desire to achieve efficient and cost-effective outcomes.

Fonterra Te Rapa Dairy Factory WWTP Stage 2 – Upgrade, New Zealand

Opus was part of project development team analysing problems associated with overloading. A solution required doubling the aeration capacity to cater for 11.5 tonnes COD/d, and provision for a long pre-denitrification stage of the project to prevent major sludge settling problems.  Following the project definition, Opus completed detailed design and procurement processes. We supervised construction and commissioned new machines, processes and automation. This significant upgrade was undertaken under tight time constraints in the factory off-season.
