Road Safety

Road safety is an inherent part of all transportation engineering projects that are undertaken.  Not only this but evaluation of accident data for existing highway networks or elements of networks can, through the development and introduction of engineering measures, assist in the reduction of accident figures.

Opus has an experienced team in the road safety field who have worked on projects in all regions of the UK.  Their focus is the reduction of both the severity and number of vehicle incidents that can involve pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians or other motorists by developing and helping implement both site specific and route or area solutions.

We also have dedicated road safety groups within New Zealand, Canada, Australia and the United States all providing a wide range of services to local authority and government sector organisations.  Access to this worldwide team and the associated Opus Interest Network provides a breadth of knowledge and understanding that is extensive.

Ruthin Link Road, Denbighshire, United Kingdom

Following the construction of new section of highway providing a link road between the centre of Ruthin and the main road to Denbigh, Opus completed a Stage 3 Road Safety Audit.
The new road is approximately 2 miles long and incorporates a new roundabout, a bridge over the river Clwyd and a shared cycle/footway.
