Opus International Consultants' team of reticulation specialists provide highly-qualified, expert personnel to manage reticulation design and services projects of any type and size. Our reticulation specialists have the additional support of experts in related disciplines and Opus’ international expertise.

Opus undertakes water, wastewater and stormwater reticulation projects in urban and rural environments for local authorities, roading clients, government institutions and the private sector. Staff located in our area offices work on locally-based projects, while more complex projects are supplemented by personnel from regional offices.

Changes to the New Zealand Local Government Act 2002 require local authorities to make specific, long-term financial provisions for water, wastewater and stormwater reticulation. Many councils are seeking assistance to ensure their reticulation assets meet these provisions.  Opus has the experience and expertise to carry out this work.

We thrive on finding cost-effective solutions and efficiencies for our clients.  We draw on our considerable experience with a range of installation technologies.  We ensure the appropriate consents are sought, and that our designs do not adversely affect the quality of life people in the community expect.  For example, we offer construction methodologies to minimise disruptions during pump station upgrades so that existing pump stations can operate while new works are undertaken. We use directional drilling in new water installations, where appropriate.

While we generally establish wastewater installations by conventional trenching, we are increasing the use of ‘trenchless’ technology.  This is a relatively new technology in some locations. It is frequently the least disruptive option available, and enables tunnels to be drilled where conventional open-cut technologies cannot work.

Wanganui Wastewater Project, New Zealand

Opus’ brief was to carry out the project management, design and construction management of the separation phase of the Wanganui Wastewater Project.  At the beginning of this project many of the city's streets were serviced by single combined sewers. This part of the project involves constructing over 50 km of new stormwater or foul sewers to provide separate reticulation for the stormwater and sewage.

                                                                                   

Wastewater Network Improvement Project, North Shore, New Zealand

This project involved designing and implementing numerous individual trunk sewer collection system upgrades: The Gravity Sewer Design (Oteha Valley (TS27), Beach Haven (TSIO), Trunk Sewer 6 re-lining, Trunk Sewer 4A replacement) TS7 Storage sewers.
