Opus has a strong track record of marine engineering across a broad range of disciplines from engineering and science to planning and property.  Opus has specialists in this area who have developed strong relationships with a large number of organisations through the delivery of innovative, appropriate and cost effective solutions.

We have an underwater and maritime engineering company called Sub-Surface Engineering which operates in the United Kingdom.  Staff include Graduate and Chartered Engineers experienced in the inspection and reporting on structures located in or under the water.
We have full time dive teams who are experienced in all manner of underwater construction and demolition projects.
In house we have equipment including the diving support vessel Coastal Engineer, hydrographic survey vessel Coastal Sounder and containerised recompression chambers and dive systems which can be mobilised within the UK or internationally.

Venture Quays, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom

Opus’ Venture Quays project on the Isle of Wight, won the Overall Prestige Award & Maritime Award from ICE Southern Branch in 2007.   The project required an economic and robust design to extend the usable quay-side facilities in front of Venture Quays from 1500m˛ to 8500m˛.

HMS President, River Thames, United Kingdom

Opus completed a new deck structure for HMS President on the River Thames. Although titled HMS this is the shore based London HQ of the Naval reserve, with jetties out into the river. Downstream from St Katharine’s Dock, with its spectacular views of Tower Bridge, it is used for both Ministry of Defence training and corporate entertaining.

Royal Yacht Squadron Project, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom

Opus was commissioned to design the marina alongside the Club House.  The design saw a series of caissons positioned on the seabed, linked together to form a “J-shaped’ breakwater.  The caissons were filled with ballast and a rock seawall created to protect the mooring pontoons.
