Opus was selected to upgrade and modernise the Helensville Water Treatment Plant for the Rodney District Council, following our past involvement with the council and the water system. There were three phases to the project; replacing the filters to increase the quality of the water, upgrading the reservoir to make sure the water supply remains secure and redesigning the plant room.
Planning involved ensuring the water supply remained constant during all parts of the upgrade, getting maximum benefit from the existing plant to minimise cost for the client and producing a plant that complies with current drinking water standards as well as allowing for future upgrades.
This project is a good example of how careful planning and innovative design can rejuvenate old treatment systems at a reasonable cost.
