RSPB Nature Reserve, United Kingdom

Opus was commissioned by The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) to supervise creation of a new nature reserve in South Yorkshire. Opus was appointed to supervise the earthworks in conjunction with their in-house experts to transform 43 hectares of farmland into a new wetlands area.

Wind Turbine, South Wales, United Kingdom

A new 500 kW wind turbine, in which Opus provided the foundation detail and design for Jones Brothers Contractors, is now providing power in South Wales.

Caerphilly Castle, United Kingdom

Opus is appointed by CADW, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment division, to undertake conservation work at Caerphilly Castle, which, stretching over a thirty-acre site is the largest in Britain after Windsor.

RNLI Bembridge Lifeboat Station, United Kingdom

Opus provided the design of the replacement slipway station, which includes a 160m long elevated walkway that is precast in concrete and supported by bored and grouted steel piles.

Bristol Docks, United Kingdom

The refurbished docks in Bristol were officially opened in summer 2011, following Opus’ work on the scheme to ensure the future effective working of Bristol docks and to reinforce the city’s flood defences. 

HMS President, River Thames, United Kingdom

Opus completed a new deck structure for HMS President on the River Thames. Although titled HMS this is the shore based London HQ of the Naval reserve, with jetties out into the river. Downstream from St Katharine’s Dock, with its spectacular views of Tower Bridge, it is used for both Ministry of Defence training and corporate entertaining.

Castell Coch, Cardiff, United Kingdom

Opus are planning supervisors and lead consultants for heritage and conservation work at Castell Coch on the outskirts of Cardiff.  The castle is a Victorian Gothic fantasy built for the Third Marquis of Bute. His architect, William Burges, transformed the site of a ruined medieval castle into a family summer residence based upon a classic Romantic theme.
