Outstanding Teamwork Award - Team Leader

Outstanding Teamwork Award - Team Leader

2009

  • Andy Ellett, Business Manager, Bunbury, Western Australia

Andy Ellett has shown outstanding leadership. After a decision was made to reduce the working hours of some staff, Andy showed his outstanding leadership by taking ownership of the decision and communicated the decisions and reasons behind it to the Bunbury staff. Andy kept staff regularly informed about progress and engaged them in the drive to win more work to justify a full- return to work.

As a result of Andy’s leadership, the project management and practices in the Bunbury office have improved, and the Bunbury Business Group achieved a positive result in 2009. This is an outstanding result under very difficult conditions.

  • David Dunlop, Transportation Team leader, Wellington, New Zealand

Over the last couple of years David has demonstrated outstanding leadership of the Wellington Transportation team to create one of the most highly regarded transportation teams in the Wellington market.  This has been a huge achievement and it has demanded huge commitment, focus and drive from David.

During David’s leadership, he has built a team of complementary skills, with a range of experience.  Like David, they all show great enthusiasm and commitment to our values – particularly strong client relationships and excellent service delivery.  David has built his reputation not only for strategic roading projects, but in the importantly growing specialisation of bus passenger transport.

The outstanding performance of his team comes not only from being an outstanding role model himself in terms of commitment, but from his personal commitment to his team.  He is committed to - and finds time for – ‘spending quality time’ with his team members.  He encourages them by celebrating their strengths and he is committed to having courageous conversations about how to lift their performance to the next level.
