Many of the tools and processes he has pioneered and introduced in the region are now widely used throughout the organisation. They have added significant value in terms of improving project management, particularly the financial aspects.
In addition, he has gone the extra mile in terms of his willingness to travel within New Zealand and overseas, sometimes for extended periods, both to introduce systems and to assist the integration of acquisitions. He is also now a regular contributor to the Project Management course where his ability to address complex subjects in a concise and readily assimilated fashion has been extremely valuable.

Dave is held in high regard for the way in which he has embraced our Cadet scheme and provides excellent mentorship to the Cadets in Dunedin. This is a very important part of their development following on from the workshop in Wellington, and without the level of support and guidance Dave provides, this programme would fail.  Dave has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is highly respected by clients for the quality of his deliverables. This, together with his patience and positive attitude towards learning, is providing these young cadets with a very strong foundation for the future.

2005

Ian Macdonald, Divisional Director, Structural Engineering, Cardiff, United Kingdom

Ian has been with Opus for 38 years from the time he graduated from college. Ian is highly valued for his contribution to enthusing staff and for providing career development training for graduates. He actively spends time explaining project requirements and engineering specifics, and encourages graduates and engineers to expand their skills and roles whilst keeping a watchful eye on their output and performance. He has forged close ties with local universities, with links to engineering students who have then been recruited and trained through to chartered status. Ian actively participates in team meetings and contributes well in areas outside the general scope of structural engineering, with his advice being readily sought by other divisional leaders. Ian is responsible for a very busy structural engineering division. His commitment to mentoring is therefore very much appreciated by those who benefit from sharing in his knowledge.

Jenny also continued her leadership role with the Manawatu/Wanganui NZ Planning Institute, working tirelessly to share her skills and experience with others in the sector.
