Opus International Consultants (Opus) has been appointed on Transport for Greater Manchester’s (TfGM) Transport Professional Services Framework to provide Highway Asset & Network Management Professional Services starting on 1st August 2016.

It is important for Greater Manchester, at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, to have a transport system that supports sustainable economic growth, develops an innovative city-region and improves everyone’s quality of life whilst protecting the environment.  At £2bn, TfGM has the largest transport investment programme in the UK outside London, which it will use to shape and create a successful, resilient city region with a fully integrated, high capacity transport system.

With approximately six million journeys being made every day by Greater Manchester residents, TfGM’s vision focuses on establishing an integrated transport system including better active travel modes such as walking and cycling whilst maintaining a safe and reliable network system for road users. Technology and the creation of a ‘smart city’ will improve journeys made via public transport and private car users.

Steve Draper, Opus’ Technical Director for Asset Management, commented “Transport for Greater Manchester is a visionary organisation and we are excited to have the opportunity to support it over the next four years, enabling its Transport Vision for 2040 through our globally-recognised human-centric asset and network management knowledge and capability”.

Achieving this vision will call upon Opus’ support for highway asset management, road safety and car parking management and will be delivered through Opus’ Manchester office, with support from our global infrastructure experts.
