In my role, I can be working in all sorts of places varying from surveying old mills in Pennine villages to flood embankments in the open fens of Cambridgeshire, to a Shopping Centre in Bristol. There’s a real buzz that comes from being out in such a wide range of places, and seeing so much of the country.
I’ve been an employee of Opus for a year, having worked as a Science teacher for the 6 years prior to that. In that time, I’ve been able build upon the surveying skills I had from my work prior to teaching. Though I first graduated in 2001, I am taking part in the Opus Graduate program, which is providing networking opportunities, and high level training in project and business management skills.
Having worked for smaller companies in the past, I’m especially pleased with the opportunities that working in a larger team provides in the form of sharing ideas and learning from colleagues. I am also being supported in my progress towards becoming a Chartered member of the CICES.
I’m aware of the wide reach of Opus as an international company and as my career with Opus continues I look forward to having a hand in new projects and working towards smart sustainable solutions for the challenges ahead.
