Tower Surveys (part of the Opus group) promotes an environment of trust, and as a Geomatics graduate I was immediately provided with the ability to take control of my own projects. After 3 weeks, I was on site and able to not only practically apply and develop my technical skills, but work directly with clients and foster lasting work relationships. Ultimately, Tower Surveys allows you the space to bring value to the company, which overall has a huge impact on my work output.
I have already had the opportunity to work on some great projects, including one a Calke Abbey for the National Trust, which proves how far I have come in such a short time as when I started I was working on small 30m2 sites. The ability to work for such reputable clients keeps me really motivated, but to succeed in this job you really do need to enjoy hard work and being in any weather. Client satisfaction makes it worth it though!
In terms of development, it has been invaluable and I am really well supported by my manager who constantly challenges me and pushes me to always employ a closer attention to detail and continuously evaluate my work (we are working to mm precision after all!) I’m also part of the Graduate Development Programme with Opus, which is helping me to highlight prospective training courses as well as providing me the opportunity to become a Chartered Surveyor.
I’m really looking forward to my future within Tower Surveys and pushing the company to strive to better and newer heights.
